Abuse cases on the rise in mining sector
Local miners have lamented the high rate of abuse cases in the sector saying it is posing a challenge on productivity.
Speaking on the sidelines of the Joint Programme for Dialogue with artisanal miners on violence against women yesterday, local miners said some victims of abuse end up quitting operations and seeking other illegal ways of resolving disputes.
They also said acquiring legal documents is tedious since it takes a long period to have them.
The country is currently commemorating 16 days of activism against GBV and its running under the theme: “Together we can end GBV in education.”
